Let Invoicing users choose the Journal and edit line Accounts
Staff whose Accounting role is Invoicing can raise customer invoices and vendor bills, but Odoo hides the Journal field and the Account column behind the Read-only accounting role. Promoting them just to reveal those two fields would also hand over the Accounting Dashboard, bank balances, journal entries and reporting. This module takes the narrow path: one opt-in checkbox that reveals exactly those two fields and nothing else.
Key Features

- Reveals the Journal field on the invoice and bill form for holders of that checkbox.
- Reveals the Account column on the document lines for holders of that checkbox.
- Leaves accountants, bookkeepers and administrators exactly as they were.
- Ships no access control lines and no record rules.
Why this is not a privilege escalation
- The Invoicing group already holds create, write and unlink on invoice lines, plus read access to the chart of accounts and to journals. The two fields were only ever hidden at the view layer, so this module exposes what the access rules had permitted all along.
- The Accounting Dashboard, journal entries, reconciliation and accounting configuration stay hidden, because those menus are gated by roles the user still does not hold.
- A bank journal can never be chosen on a bill: the Journal dropdown is limited to journals matching the document type, so a bill offers purchase journals and an invoice offers sales journals.
- Account changes are tracked, so every swap is recorded in the document chatter.
Configuration
Go to Settings → Users & Companies → Users, open the user, and confirm their Accounting role is Invoicing. Then tick Set Journal & Accounts on Invoices/Bills in the Other section at the bottom of the Access Rights tab. The checkbox does nothing on its own; it stacks on top of the Invoicing role rather than replacing it.
